at the SoCal Code Camp this year. I must admit though it was a little embarrassing to tell people that I was going to "code camp". Yes I am a nerd, I have embraced it, and can live life knowing that I am a nerd.
I was initially shocked at how many people were at the event. I of course went to the wrong building, and was talking to some UC Fullerton students about how the doors were locked and then noticed that none of them had that geek look. I then started to wander and found the registration building and asked for a building that had my first class. Mr. Denny.NeT told me about the camp, and for some reason I thought I might bump into him, but then I realized that I had no idea what he looked like or what his last name was or what classes he was going to. Plus then I noticed that I had never told him that I would be there, and since I really have no idea who Denny.NET is anyway, my shot of putting a face to a name was abandoned quickly. I'm a terrible planner.
Maybe I'll eventually plop a photo of myself on my blog. Maybe someone would want to meet me. I don't have enough nerd friends. :)
Anyway, the classes were so so. A lot of times the speaker didn't really seem organized. I did go the the Sleepless Road Show MOSS class but had no idea what was going on (I went in on part 2). Kurt, the speaker, was pretty excited though and made me want to know wtf he was talking about (Sites->Library Lists->Durrr and a chant about Program Files/Common Files/Shared/90/)...but oh well. I know that there was a contest, and it involved having no sleep and using Sharepoint. I also went to the IoC and DJ classes but like always had no idea how to follow along, as I couldn't hear the dude speaking.
I did have fun though and will probably try attending a SoCal .NET events that are coming up. Maybe next time I'll be better prepared to meet some peoples.
